The Curing Lab - Series 1

Last month I spent the day at Lakeland College teaching students about coatings and curing with my sidekick, Cure Dude.

The best part? The questions.

Kids ask the simple questions adults sometimes stop asking.

• Why?
• How does that work?
• What happens if we try it differently?

It made me think about manufacturing. Because in every plant I walk through, I hear some version of:

• “We’ve always done it this way.”
• “Turn up the temperature.”
• “Slow the conveyor.”
• “The oven must be the problem.”

Sometimes those answers are right. Sometimes they are just assumptions wearing a hard hat.

That is what inspired The Curing Lab. For the next eight weeks, I’ll share one Field Note every Monday.

• One plant-floor observation.
• One curing or manufacturing assumption.
• One better question.

A chance to look at familiar problems a little differently. So grab a coffee, and let’s take a walk through the plant together.
