What is Galaxy Boost?

A Galaxy Boost oven is a pre-gel oven used in powder coating to start the curing process without fully curing the coating. The Galaxy Boost is placed immediately after the powder booth and in front of your convection oven. A Boost oven can be powered by either Gas Catalytic IR or the new RHT radiant heaters.

It works by:

  • Rapidly bringing the applied powder temperature up to the point where gelling starts to take place
  • Stabilizing the coating before it enters the main cure oven
  • Preventing powder from being blown off the part

The Galaxy Boost uses gas catalytic infrared technology and/or RHT radiant heaters, which deliver fast, efficient heating with minimal airflow.

RHT Radiant High Temperature heaters deliver safe, reliable heat via short-wavelength infrared rays from gas combustion (Natural Gas or Propane). Infrared energy is absorbed rapidly and evenly by exposed materials, making them ideal for high-temperature processes such as dry-off and pre-gel. These units can bu used alongside Gas Catalytic IR heaters or by themselves.

Constructed entirely from high-temperature-rated stainless steel, with each burner featuring a precision pre-mix system for a consistently calibrated air-to-gas ratio.

Why Use a Pre-Gel Oven in Powder Coating?

Adding a Galaxy Boost pre-gel oven before a conventional convection oven provides clear production and quality benefits. The controlled infrared heat softens the powder coating so it flows evenly and adheres securely to the substrate. As there is less airflow in the pre-gel oven, the powder is not blown off. This enables shorter gaps in production when doing color changes.
